Winter Styling: Red Velvet

I can't believe that it is already December! Thanks to the climate, winter in (most of) California does not have many limitations, and the local floral variety is really amazing year-round. Since I am one to seek unusual floral varieties, I have become admittedly spoiled by what the SF Flower Mart has (or can acquire). I really think the only other place for me in the world with such great access to floral variety year-round might be the Netherlands. When I saw these red garden roses at the market, I knew I had to have them. So, I combined them with some coxcomb and other fun flowers to create a vibrant winter arrangement.

Flowers: garden rose, coxcomb, anemone, lambs ear, dates, purple beautyberry, and winter greens Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Begin with the greens, placing them on one side of the vase. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Add the berries - these beautyberries are my favorite! Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Arrange the coxcomb in the middle of the arrangement - they really add a velvety quality to this arrangement. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Now, disperse the anemone throughout the vase. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Add the roses and the lambs ear. Aren't these roses just edible?! Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Finally, add the dates, allowing them to drape over the side. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com
