White Lotus

Happy November friends! I honestly can't believe it is November, I mean we were just on summer vacation! It is always amazing just how quickly time flies when things are busy, and with a business, three kids with school and activities, and various other miscellaneous things, the year has zipped along at breakneck speed. I have had my eye on lotus for some time now, so when I saw that this Australian variety was available, I didn't waste any time. The lotus, along with the candy cane tulips with some gardenia added, were both eye candy as well as beautifully aromatic. It is amazing what beauty you can achieve by simply adding some different textures and shades of color together in a vessel!

Human with Bouquets: Keely

Keely is my sis-in-law and one of my favorite people. She has been in my life for 15 years, and I like many things about her - but the one quality I absolutely adore in her is how real she is. There is just no BS. She is patient, kind, easy-going, fun, and most of all - what you see is what you get. To me, that's one dynamite quality, and one that is hard to come by in people. In addition to the wonderful person that she is, Keely has an immaculate eye for design and photography! She can style the same location multiple times, and each time you'll be amazed by what you see. Each and every corner of her home is so adorable, and the time and attention that she has put into it is always quite evident. When you look through her Instagram feed, it is as though you are looking at bits and pieces straight out of a home and design magazine. When we were in Texas visiting over the 4th of July, I had the chance to grab some shots of Keely and her home, and I think you'll be inspired by what you see!

Thanks for always opening your home to us Keel, and for being my lovely human. I love you!

Humans with Bouquets: Dustin

One of my favorite places at the San Francisco Flower Mart is Torchio Nursery. Started in 1985 by Darrell Torchio, it is one of the best spots inside the Mart. It was natural that I would ask Darrell's son Dustin - who I see and work with all of the time - to be one of my humans. So, a couple of weeks ago NRU and I went to the flower mart and took some fun shots of Dustin at work. It was a blast going to the flower mart at a regular hour of the morning (not at the crack of dawn like I usually do), and for the sole purpose of photographing Dustin, and without getting caught in the hustle and bustle of work. You see, when your job is floral design and your obsession is to put unique florals arrangements together, the people who supply the flowers become so important in your life. I mean, where would I be if I didn't have people like Dustin finding and stashing the flowers that I want away in their fridge? Not only do I get what I want, but it is brought to me in the best condition and with a welcoming and awesome smile to top it off!

Thank you Torchio Nursery - and a special thank you to Dustin for being a very cool human!

This cool chair just lives out in the alley right behind Torchio where all the flowers are recieved and sorted. To be honest, I had never been out back before. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com | Photography: N.R. Underwood / nruphoto.com

Check out all of the buckets...there were a lot more near where Dustin was standing. I should also add that there was a lot of teasing going on by the rest of the Torchio crew, but Dustin took it all like a champ! Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com | Photography: N.R. Underwood / nruphoto.com
