Autumn Color Series: Red

I have to admit it, I am really enjoying doing this color series! The amazing colors that I have been finding at the market are really inspiring. Dahlia season is winding down, but when I saw this gorgeous red bunch the other day, I knew that I had to include them in the color series. The velvety texture and vibrant color of the dahlias combined with the extraordinary shade of the calla lilies and the ranunculus is so lovely. I have had this copper vase that my mother brought back from Iran for some time, and I thought it would be a perfect vessel for this combination of flowers and colors.

Flowers: dahlia, ranunculus, astilbe, calla lily, tropical greens Kiana Underwood /

Begin by placing the greens in a triangular shape in the vase. Kiana Underwood /

Add the astilbe. To me astilbe is like lace - it is always such a delicate addition to any bouquet or arrangement. This shade beautifully compliments the calla lily! Kiana Underwood /

I'm not normally a huge calla lily fan, but these are out of this world! Kiana Underwood /

Continue with the calla lily. Kiana Underwood /

Now, add the dahlias - placing them throughout the arrangement. Kiana Underwood /

Finally, add the ranunculus to give the arrangement a bit more height and even structure. Kiana Underwood /
