Poppies and Figs

Happy Wednesday friends! I already know that it's going to feel like a Monday today. After doing a wedding on Saturday, my family and I traveled to Southern California for a friend's wedding on Sunday, I did a shoot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, and we had to hustle back for a Little League playoff game. Work, plus 16 hours of driving over the past three days has me pooped. Today's post is simple, yet elegant. It consists of two of my absolute favorites - figs and poppies. I had some leftover poppies and figs from an event, so I thought I would combine them. Poppies look amazing once they are fully opened. Their colors have such variety and richness to them, and I love all the funky ways their stems bend.

The beauty of these two ingredients is that you really don't have to do too much. Just begin with placing them in your vase, and then go with the flow, adding where you think you need more. It can look like an "unplanned" and free flowing arrangement. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

St. Patty's Day Trio

I don't usually post anything on Sundays; however, St. Patrick's Day sort of sprung up on me this year. March has been a very busy month so far, and the days have flown by. I put together a really quick centerpiece trio in anticipation of our dinner table on Monday and I wanted to share it with you. For more St. Patty's inspiration, please check out what I did last year! I wish you all a wonderful Sunday and a very fun St. Patrick's day!

Shamrock (oxalis) is one of my favorite plants, so I mixed some of that with this lovely greenish hydrangea from my garden, pieris, and a few white ranunculus. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com | Photography: N.R. Underwood / nruphoto.com

I saw these lovely glasses at Anthropologie the other day and thought they would make great holiday floral vessels. You really don't need very many flowers, just a couple varieties of festive flowers and greens and you have a lovely centerpiece. So, go out today and grab a few ingredients - your table will thank you! For those celebrating, have a lovely Christmas.
