Autumn Wedding

Autumn weddings are some of my favorite, as I love the opportunity for some of the rust and gold-colored palettes that come with the season. This wedding in San Francisco was no exception, and I was able to take advantage of some lovely amaryllis and golden persimmons in conjunction with rose, tuberose, and eucalyptus. Not only were the colors out of this world, but the smell floating through the wedding reception was heavenly. And the icing on the cake was the kind and lovely "thank you" e-mail I received from a very happy bride the following Monday! Flowers: amaryllis, rose, tweedia, tuberose, privet, persimmon, pomegranate, ranunculus, eucalyptus, nigella, nerine lily, cyrtanthus Autumn Wedding / Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com | Photography: Nathan Underwood / nruphoto.com

Autumn Dinner Party

In San Francisco, autumn, and September and October in particular, are months that we might be lucky enough to have a warm "summer" night. Last year in the fall I did the flowers for a dinner inspiration party at a residence in San Francisco that turned out quite lovely. I thought I would share some of the photos with all of you. Thanks in particular to Angie Cao, whose photography captured the flowers, food, and scenes in such an amazing way.

Burgundy Dahlia DIY

Dahlias are lovely flowers, and I often use them extensively for summer weddings. They have great texture, and come in an amazing array of sizes, shapes, and color. These burgundy dahlias are striking for being almost black, and create a very dark and earthy color palette when paired with unripened pomegranate. The ranunculus, triteleia, and bunny tail brighten and soften things just a bit, keeping the arrangement accessible. I used a rectangular vase, but feel free to use the type of vessel that best suits the intended display location. tulipina.com / Kiana Underwood
