A Renoir Inspiration

When I was in London a few weeks ago I went back to the National Gallery (a must visit every time I'm there) and viewed some of my favorite art again. They have a great selection of Renoir and Degas - two of my favorites. I happened upon a beautiful floral painting by Renoir which indeed confirmed my love for gladioli. I mean just look at how beautiful this is, abundant and masterful. So, I was inspired, and upon my return I did my own version of "Gladioli in a Vase" with mostly flowers from my garden and a little gladioli help from Trader Joe's.

Fanciful Flower Girls

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of working with photographer Christina McNeill on this wonderful flower girl shoot at the lovely Kohl Mansion near my home. It was a ton of fun getting the girls dolled up (thanks to Lia!), and I put together an assortment of bouquets, garlands, pomanders, baskets, and crowns that show just how much can be done for the younger ladies in a wedding party. Some of the photos from this shoot were recently featured on Snippet & Ink, and I thought it would be fun to show a few more of my favorites.

Mad About Macaroons

Let's face it, who doesn't love macaroons?! You can't escape them, as they are everywhere - and macaroons (actually macarons) have definitely become the new cupcake. I'll certainly admit that their allure was increased significantly after enjoying a selection at Hakkasan a few weeks ago. This was a particularly fun and collaborative project with Angie and crew at Cao Studio, and a huge thanks to Valerie Teele whose genius birthed the large macaroon props. If you're a regular reader, you'll know by now that I am big into combining my favorite things with flowers. I hope that you enjoy this floral macaroon inspiration as much I enjoyed putting it together. The sky is the limit when it comes to the party styling possibilities with this combination.
