Workshops: Intensive Floral / Los Angeles

As has become the norm lately, I know it has been ages since I last blogged. Life has been super busy, hardly leaving me any time to breathe. That said, I have finally reached a point where I can take a moment and reflect back on the past 4 months. I'll start with the intensive floral workshop I had in February at Hedley & Bennett headquarters in Los Angeles. It was such a fun experience, with some amazing students (and generally awesome people) as well as a ton of lovely flowers.

I hadn't really spent much time in downtown LA before, and I found out that it is actually pretty amazing. There were a ton of great restaurants (and we got wonderful recommendations from Ellen Bennett), and the downtown area has a unique vibe with its different districts - e.g. garment, jewelry, flower, etc. In addition to partnering with Hedley & Bennett, Pottery Barn was kind enough to provide all of the vessels for the class, and Brannan Street Wholesale sent us some amazing flowers from San Francisco.

Finally, a huge thanks to everyone who attended. Workshops couldn't happen without you.

The Great Summer Road Trip

My family and I are big fans of road trips and when the summer rolls around we usually go on one. This year we have embarked upon the longest road trip we have ever been on - 5 weeks on the road. Our first stop (from California) is usually Texas to visit family, and then we go on to New Orleans and the deep South (which is one of my absolute favorite parts of the country). This year, we'll continue down to Miami, and then up the East Coast to New York City, and then back across the United States through Amish country, Chicago, Mount Rushmore, and (most likely) parts of Washington and Oregon before returning home. Last week I stopped in Dallas for a workshop with Fullosophie at a great location - Chicken Scratch/The Foundry. It was so much fun, and the ladies who attended were absolutely lovely (and Chicken Scratch was a great venue). I had all of my flowers shipped from California, and Brannan Street Wholesale sponsored the workshop and shipped them in immaculate condition. Everyone was so thrilled to have California-grown flowers in Texas!

It certainly was a warm afternoon, but as someone who lives in Northern California and does not get much heat in the summer, I really loved it. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com | Photography: N.R. Underwood / nruphoto.com
