Autumn Wedding

Autumn weddings are some of my favorite, as I love the opportunity for some of the rust and gold-colored palettes that come with the season. This wedding in San Francisco was no exception, and I was able to take advantage of some lovely amaryllis and golden persimmons in conjunction with rose, tuberose, and eucalyptus. Not only were the colors out of this world, but the smell floating through the wedding reception was heavenly. And the icing on the cake was the kind and lovely "thank you" e-mail I received from a very happy bride the following Monday! Flowers: amaryllis, rose, tweedia, tuberose, privet, persimmon, pomegranate, ranunculus, eucalyptus, nigella, nerine lily, cyrtanthus Autumn Wedding / Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com | Photography: Nathan Underwood / nruphoto.com

Humans with Bouquets: Will

As some of you know, I was recently in London. I would be lying if I told you I wasn't super excited about this particular feature today! Everything about this shoot was an amazing experience - from the moment I asked Will Taylor to be one of my humans, to the day I visited the New Covent Garden Market to buy flowers, through to the day that I photographed him on the bank of the Thames in beautiful London. For those of you who aren't familiar with Will, you soon will be, as his book Bright Bazaar: Embracing Color for Make-You-Smile Style is about to be released (April 29 in the US) and it is going to explode your mind. He is also a freelance designer, and the founder and editor of the wonderful interior design and color blog Bright.Bazaar. If you haven't guessed it yet, and couldn't tell from these photos, Will is all about color.

If you'd like to meet Will, he is going to be in Los Angeles and New York for book signings in May. Please check his blog for details!

In my opinion (and clearly many others), Will's taste and style are immaculate, but what has endeared him to me most is the kind, humble, and wonderful person that he is. It is a pleasure to have you on my blog Will - thank you for participiating in my series and for a great day in London. You certainly have brought color and happiness to Humans with Bouquets!

The beauty of buying flowers in Europe in spring is that these amazing ranunculi were abundant and coming straight over from Holland. Styling and photography by Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

To me, this is the essence of who Will is - bright, happy and positive! Styling and photography by Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Can you tell Will is a natural at this? I didn't have to tell him how to pose at all - all I did was snap away - and, of course, wound up with lots of favorite photos to share! Styling and photography by Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Autumn Color Series: Blue

I'm generally not a fan of blue flowers or blue-themed floral arrangements, but in thinking about this Color Series and looking around at the SF Flower Mart I realized that there are a lot of different shades and textures when it comes to blue. So, I was pushed to challenge myself and put together something in blue that I didn't find "tacky", and this is the result. Feel free to let me know what you think! Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Flowers: delphinium, belladonna, privet berries, hydrangea, thistle, viburnum, tweedia Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Begin with the privet on one side. These berries are just lovely this time of year, as their color changes into lovely shades of blue and pink. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Place the hydrangea opposite the privet. The puffy look creates a great contrast to the other side of the vase. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Place the tweedia in between. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Arrange the thistle in the middle and behind the privet. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

Add the delphinium. Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com

And finally, add the viburnum. It's still not a personal color fave, but if I had to have a blue arrangement, I think I could live with this one for a little bit! Kiana Underwood / tulipina.com
