Happy weekend friends! As a young(er) girl I lived in Italy for about a year and a half, first as an undergrad (in Siena), and then for a year as a graduate student with Johns Hopkins University SAIS (School of Advanced International Studies) in Bologna. These were truly some of the best times of my life, during which I met many wonderful people from all over the world with whom I still keep in contact!
Well, I left Italy in summer of 2000 and never thought it would take me so long to go back! I have traveled many places since then, but the longing to go back has never waned. 13 years later - and after hundreds of Italy-centric dreams - tomorrow I am headed back (on vacation)! I am so very excited! Italy feels like home to me - the people, the culture, the language, the country, the good with all of its bad - I LOVE it all! For me, there is almost nothing better than taking an afternoon walk around the Piazza del Duomo in Florence, or enjoying the pizza, gelato, and espresso (or latte macchiato).
I have a bunch of great posts for the time that I am gone, and am looking forward to the flower mart in Florence and some lovely pictures to bring back and share.
