The weather has been amazing in California this week, and especially so in the San Francisco area, where we are used to 60F weather in April/May rather than 80F weather. I found some wonderful ceramic ice cream cones and bowls a few weeks ago, and thought that filling them each with a single variety ('puffy' types work best in this) would be a bright pop of color on the table and reminiscent of colorful ice cream or sorbet. Just the right thing to cool a warm day down.
I call this a DIY, but it is so simple that it doesn't need any instructions. For each cone/bowl, pick a colorful variety and trim and place to achieve the desired effect. This would be a great cluster centerpiece for an outdoor spring or summer party - with the varieties/colors to match your chosen theme.
One note: The rice flower pictured comes painted, so be careful not to get it wet or the color can run and get all over everything.
